Customer Profile

Sector: Financial
Industry: Real Estate

The real estate law firm specializes in real estate foreclosure cases. The company manages the legal process of auctioning foreclosed properties.

Business Situation

The firm needed to upgrade their aging PC’s but was using an old Microsoft Access 1997 database to manage their foreclosure cases. This old database prevented them from replacing their aging PCs with new PCs containing Windows Vista and Microsoft Access 2007. As a result, their staff continued to use their aging and slow PCs. It was critical that their Microsoft Access 1997 database be converted to Access 2007 so that new PCs could be purchased.

After the database was converted to Access 2007, more of the company’s staff began to use the database. As activity increased, the need for being able to manage customer billing became a priority. It was important that the company manage their cases along with the billing for these cases in one system rather than two.

Solution

Converting to Microsoft Access 2007

The database was converted to the Microsoft Access 2007 platform. Having the database in the most recent version of Access enabled all company staff to use the database. This also allowed the company to replace their aging PCs with new ones. Their staff could now operate the database using Access 2007 on the latest Windows operating system.

Billing Functionality

The ability to generate invoices and track payments was added to the database. Company staff could now manage their cases along with the billing for each case in one system. This enabled the company to run more efficiently since their staff did not have to navigate between two systems to manage their cases. Company staff can now generate multiple invoices for one case and can also apply one payment to multiple invoices.
