We can all increase our odds with a little help from Google. Since Fall 2013, when Google released the Hummingbird algorithm, the company has brought forth a larger focus on local search results to give smaller businesses a boost. The new feature released last week – Google My Business – allows businesses to manage important information, such as their location or opening hours, all from one place.
This is not a new offering. Google has simply consolidated several features into a single online portal. Now businesses have the benefit of Google+ Local, which shows listings of local business alongside a 5-point review system, as well as interact with their community fans on Google+. Then, the business management team can manage reviews and view analytics from a single dashboard.
Over time, Google will update existing features such as Google Places to Google My Business.
As you continue to build it (your online presence that is), make sure you check out Google My Business so customers will indeed come!
